Domain Name Hobart.com.au for sale

As reported by The Mercury the Domain Name Hobart.com has been put up for sale in an online auction ending on Tuesday.

Publishing Australia acquired the Domain Name for $1000 back in 2005. As a result of a ballot of commercial geographic domain names conducted by auDA during 2005,  138 applications from businesses were received for perth.com.au which was the most popular and sought after name.  This was followed closely by cairns.com.au, margaretriver.com.au, canberra.com.au and byronbay.com.au.

The ballot involved many businesses across Australia applying for their   preferred commercial geographic domain name.

Hobart.com.au was ranked the 13th most popular name amongst 2700 geographic domain names which were made available across Australia, with 10,000 applicants competing for them.
